Tree wells, the death traps. Tree wells are unpacked snow that is around the base of a tree. The snow that sits on the tree, will fall down through the branches in to the tree well, most of the deaths in tree wells are because people go in head first. Most of the dangeorus tree wells occur in ungroomed areas.
To avoid and to remember.
1 Make sure to avoid tree wells and mostly trees.
2 When you ski, make sure you are with your partner at all times.
3 Don't go for help. just help dig the partner out. you could save them.
It causes deaths if skiing alone. If you and your partner are not in place where trees are more spread out. the chance of getting stuck in a tree well is unlikely to impossible. That is where you would want to ski. Both skiers and snowboarders have died in tree wells. That is what I have to say about tree wells, Avoid Them.
